Within in the vast psychology field experimental designs are used commonly to research and find cause. When this type of design is used it must include one or more experimental groups and a control group. Randomly sampling and a variable that is manipulated by the researcher insures reliability and validity(Myers, & Hansen, 2012). Sometimes this type of research design is not possible due to budget, time, or not having the ability to randomly assign subjects, which is when the best alternative method is a nonexperimental design.
