America is said to be the land of the free and all that jazz. The Freedom of Expression is a paramount to the United States of America and affords the citizens the ability to have a voice without threat of harm or arrest. Paving the way for democracy is the adoption of the First Amendment in 1791, which allows for freedom of expression in many forms even when it is directed at the government, political process, or symbols. The freedom of expression gives one the right to opinions and ideas whether in speech or writing and other forms of communication, which includes freedom of the press.
