Introduction
Movies are often good vehicle of revealing different sociological aspects. In different movies, it has been often noticed, that different sociological issues ranging from class-struggle to individual stigmatization and its devastating outcomes have been projected and very often these movies have been accepted by the global audiences for their content and subject matter. Released in 2008 and directed by British film-maker Danny Boyle (and co-directed by Loveleen Tandan), Slumdog Millionaire is a movie that, if studied carefully, can reveal how culture and cultural conflicts contribute to formation of the unique identities and characteristics of societies across the globe. Written by Simon Beaufoy and extracted from a novel by Vikas Swarup (“Full cast and crew for Slumdog Millionaire (2008)”, n.d.), this movie is based on the story of a “Mumbai teen who grew up in the slums, becomes a contestant on the Indian version of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?”
